Tuneful Scottish rock act Travis haven't released a proper studio album since 2008's Ode to J. Smith, but the band are finally ready to return with a new LP. Their seventh full-length album is called Where You Stand and it will be out in the UK on August 19.
UPDATE: The album arrives in North America on August 20.
This news was confirmed by singer Fran Healy in a handwritten letter posted on Travis' website. While he didn't drop any hints about what it will sound like, he revealed that the title track, "Where You Stand," will be the first single. It will be released this coming Tuesday (April 30) and a video will arrive the same day.
He also promised to announce tour dates in due course, writing, "All I can say, all I know is we will def be touring and that tour will be international. Dates and places are unconfirmed."
They have a few international dates confirmed already. See the schedule here.
NME reports that Where You Stand was produced by Michael Ilbert (Carly Rae Jepsen, the Hives) at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin.
Travis previously released a music video for the album cut "Another Guy." Watch the clip for that pop-rock tune below.
