Toy and Natasha Khan

"The Bride" (Amir Rassaei cover)

Things got psychedelic when Toy and Bat for Lashes (aka Natasha Khan) hit the studio together to tackle Iranian musician Amir Rassaei's "Aroos Khanom." The bewitching cut has now been translated into English and redubbed "The Bride."

Like Rassaei's original, the song is a woozy waltz of snaking piano melodies and jangling six-strings, and Khan sits above the band delivering passionate, echo-drenched cries. You can stream it down below.

Toy and Khan's collaboration was apparently cranked out in the studio in five hours and will appear on a limited-edition 7-inch for Speedy Wunderground on July 1. A dub version of the song appears on the flip.

The original, meanwhile, can be heard on Light in the Attic's Zendooni: Funk, Psychedelia and Pop from the Iranian Pre-revolution Generation compilation.
