One dollar from each can sold will go toward the Unison Benevolent Fund

Toronto's Leslieville-area music store, Cask Music, has announced a collaborative charity initiative with local microbrewery Radical Road Brewing Co. The companies have come together to create Big Mash, a beer to benefit out-of-work musicians through the Unison Benevolent Fund.

One dollar from each can of the Helles Lager sold will be donated to artists in need through the Unison Fund, which provides emergency financial support to Canadian musicians who have been struggling during the pandemic, or otherwise "recovering from an illness, injury or other circumstances that result in an inability to work, severe economic or personal hardship."

The limited-edition $3 beverage itself is described as "an unfiltered take on the classic Helles Lager. Helles, meaning 'bright' or 'pale,' feature a bready malt profile and floral hop flavour." Big Mash has been "cold aged for a well-balanced beer with a clean finish," and is named for the iconic Big Muff fuzz pedal.

The new beer launches in-store today. You can order cans through Radical Road's website or visit the bottle shop from 12 to 11 p.m. ET to pick some up in person.
