Todor Kobakov is a Bulgarian-born, Toronto-based composer whose work has included scoring both commercials and films, and providing string arrangements for the indie rockers like Stars, Jason Collett and Small Sins. Now, with the release of his debut album, Pop Music Kobakov hopes to marry these two worlds.
Though largely a piano-based, instrumental album, Kobakov enlisted both Metric's Emily Haines and TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe to lend their formidable vocal talents to a pair of tracks. On "Loving Hands" Adebimpe offers a much softer tone for this somber track than the wild-man he often plays on stage and hopefully it's a good indication of what we can expect from the rest of Pop Music.
