With "Black Water" and "Woman" paving the way for Creep On Creepin' On to be released on April 5, you would be correct in thinking Timber Timbre have reached a new level of paranormal intensity. But they can also take the piss out of themselves.
Timber Timbre are a group now with the addition of Mika Posen and Simon Trottier, but they're still largely known as Taylor Kirk's project. Kirk recently talked to Exclaim! about how the title song, which riffs off the soul-music-identified slogan "keep on keepin' on," came together.
"It was kind of an inside joke that a friend mentioned in passing. It seemed funny, self-ironic" he relates. "I imagined it was treading into the territory of kitsch. I had a progression that made me think of a game show theme song. [The lyrics are] like it's the host of the record [speaking]."
Kirk is not known for being an excitable personality, but he's enthused about the new and improved configuration of Timber Timbre as a trio. "It's really rare that I've been really excited about all the songs [not just one]," he says of the impending release of the album. "Maybe it's just become it's more of a group effort and I don't hear just me behind every single nuance of every song. I'm still actually excited to hear the record, and normally at this point, I would be totally disinterested".
That's a good thing, as Timber Timbre have just hit the road in support of the new release. You can see all the dates below.
