While Tim Armstrong is gearing up to pull double duty on the upcoming Rancid and Transplants tour, the punk vet is still keeping busy with Tim Timebomb and Friends, uploading new covers on the regular. Now, the project's tipping its hat to one of Armstrong's own songs by dropping a chilled-out take on Rancid's "Hyena."
Tim Timebomb and Friends dial it down for the cover, swapping out the surging six-strings and punky drum pummelling of the original with lightly brushed rhythms and ragtime piano solos. Armstrong's languid, lower-register whispering, meanwhile, comes out oddly cajun-spiced and more under-annunciated than his usual mumble.
