Content creators, rejoice! Warner Music Group has officially agreed to a deal with TikTok that will allow the app's creators to use WMG's music in their videos.
It's not often that content creators catch breaks like this when it comes to copyright and licensing guidelines, especially on TikTok, which has been in the process of renegotiating its music licensing deals for over a year now.
WMG CEO Robert Kyncl and TikTok CEO Shou Chew promised that the deal would benefit both artists and content creators alike [via Billboard]. "We can jointly deliver greater value to WMG's artists and songwriters and TikTok's users," said Kyncl.
Canadian artists signed to WMG include Michael Bublé, Avril Lavigne, Tegan and Sara and Neil Young, and more. Oh, and if you want to use a song from the Barbie soundtrack in your TikToks (because why wouldn't you?), that's licensed by WMG too!
Check out WMG's official website for a complete list of their artists.
