Ticketmaster, SeatGeek Promise Fees Transparency After White House Visit

Concertgoers, rejoice!

Following months of criticism, Ticketmaster and SeatGeek have committed to changing their pricing strategies — although not to lowering their fees (as concertgoers and performers alike have been clamouring for), instead to revealing the full price of tickets, including fees, entirely upfront.

As THR reports, the ticketing giants were at the White House earlier today for a discussion between private sector companies and US President Joe Biden to address what he labelled "junk fees."

Ticketmaster has been particularly scrutinized lately, with Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, the Cure's Robert Smith, Neil Young and more publicly denouncing the service fees that often amount to as much or more than the tickets themselves. Drake and Taylor Swift fans have even pursued legal action against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation Entertainment.

"Live Nation is proud to provide fans with a better ticketing buying experience," said the company's president Tom See. "We have thousands of crew working behind the scenes every day to help artists share their music live with fans, and we'll continue advocating for innovations and reforms that protect that amazing connection."
