New York trio These Are Powers covered some impressive ground on their three LPs, from out-there rock to messy dance music suited to an illegal loft party. In 2009, they topped themselves with All Aboard Future, but rather than follow that up, the band have sadly decided to throw in the towel.
As Impose reports, members Anna Barie and Pat Noecker performed without drummer Bill Salas as "Powers" at New York's Death by Audio on Friday (February 4). The show was a memorial for New York promoter Ariel Panero, who passed away at the age of 25 last week.
The band have not made an official statement about their breakup, but their label Dead Oceans confirmed the split. In a post, the label wrote, "They were a creative force and we know to expect exciting, forward thinking music from each member in their future endeavors."
