Illinois rock outfit the Orwells have called it quits in the wake of sexual assault allegations made against three of their members.
The band announced their split on Twitter today, succinctly tweeting, "The Orwells have disbanded."
This past weekend, allegations were made against band members Mario Cuomo, Henry Brinner and Grant Brinner in a Reddit post. The claims included sexual assault, sending unsolicited nude photos, violent misogyny and homophobic language.
The announcement of their split comes after the band released a statement this week denying the aforementioned allegations, in addition to cancelling a November 23 performance at Chicago's Metro.
"We emphatically deny these baseless allegations brought as a personal attack against us," the band wrote. "While callow altercations and vulgar language we've used in the past must be recognized and owned up to, the accusations of sexual assault are completely unfounded."
The Orwells delivered their Terrible Human Beings LP last year.
