Making for quite the meta experiment, the fictional cult leader from BC filmmaker Panos Cosmatos' Mandy, Jeremiah Sand, is getting set to release an album this month called Left It Down. To give you a better idea what the leader of the Children of the New Dawn has in store for us, he's now given us a video for the record's "Golden Desert."
The video was directed by Una Blue, who had this to say:
"Golden Desert" is an eerie and unhinged song that I found stuck in my head, but not in a good way. It was spinning around in my brain for weeks on end. The song has a syrupy quality in its movement and I wanted to emulate that in the video: oozing from one hallucinatory visual to the next. Throughout the pandemic I've been experiencing painful migraines that distort my vision with ocular auras and instill a desire to escape from physical form. I'm certain this has seeped into the visuals for "Golden Desert" - the imagery continually contorting and sinking into bad-acid-filled waters. I don't know what Jeremiah found, but it definitely wasn't the light.
As previously reported, Left It Down will arrive on October 30 via Sacred Bones, and we're guessing Nicolas Cage isn't too happy about it.
