With Swans due to drop their "final album" in their current iteration next month, longtime percussionist Thor Harris has revealed his next step. The bell-whapper has collected a group of pals to record under the name Thor & Friends.

Details are still developing, but Pitchfork reports that Harris has assembled a rotating cast of Austin, TX-based musicians for the project. This includes Peggy Ghorbani, Sarah "Goat" Gautier and more. A picture of Harris and his collected chums was posted by the marquee musician earlier today (May 11) through his Twitter account.

The band have already tracked a full-length, which will be released through LM Music Duplication sometime in the fall. No word yet on how many songs will appear on the album, but it was recorded in Albuquerque, NM, with A Hawk & A Hacksaw's members Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost, as well as Deerhoof's John Dieterich.

As for Swans, the band's The Glowing Man sees release June 17 through Young God Records/Mute. Band leader Michael Gira had previously explained that he was retiring the longtime lineup of himself, Harris, guitarist Norman Westberg, pedal steel player Kristof Hahn, drummer Phil Puleo and bassist Christopher Pravdica. The group will continue with Gira leading "a revolving cast of collaborators."
