Swans Announce North American Tour, Play Vancouver

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 31, 2012

Earlier this week, New York post-punk vets Swans announced The Seer, an apparently epic, two-hour-long new LP. Fans of the group's equally oppressive and impressive live show will likely get the chance to see the tunes onstage, as Swans are hitting the road once again this September.

Swans will embark on a 15-show trek, and luckily for West Coast Canadians, the tour kicks off at Vancouver's Venue on September 6. Regrettably for the rest of the country, the rest of the tour takes place on the other side of the Canada/U.S. border. Joining Swans on all dates will be experimental popsmiths Xiu Xiu.

As previously reported, the 11-song The Seer arrives August 27 through band leader Michael Gira's Young God Records, and features contributions from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O, Ben Frost, Low's Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, members of Akron/Family, former Swans contributor Jarboe, and Mercury Rev's Grasshopper.
