SummerWorks Festival All Hot and Bothered and Ready to Go with Miracle Fortress, Think About Life and DD/MM/YYYY

BY Jason SchreursPublished Aug 5, 2009

We recently told you about the upcoming SummerWorks Festival and its celebration of Toronto indie music, theatre and arts. Well, now it's upon us like a heat wave in August.

Starting this Thursday (August 6), the festival will get underway and include an extensive music series that features performances by Miracle Fortress, Think About Life, DD/MM/YYYY, Still Life Still, the D'Urbervilles, Forest City Lovers, the Sunparlour Players, Germans, Great Bloomers and many more at downtown Toronto's Theatre Centre.

Last-minute additions to the music series are Oh No Forest Fires playing with the Got to Get Out on Saturday (August 8) and Fox Jaw and Boys Who Say No have been confirmed for a show next Tuesday (August 11).

Also, Soundscapes, one of Toronto's best independent record stores, has a pretty cool-looking window display to advertise the festival, if you're in the neighbourhood.

SummerWorks began in 1991 as a celebration of Toronto's independent theatre community and wisely added a music series in 2007. Ticket info is available here for this year's music series, which is being presented by Exclaim! and CBC Radio 3.
