Field Trip
"Field Trip is our annual love letter to our hometown," says festival co-director and Arts & Crafts co-founder Jeffrey Remedios about the two-day Toronto event. This year's fest welcomes Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, the War on Drugs, De La Soul, Father John Misty and more.
06/6-7/2015 Toronto, ON – Fort York & Garrison Common
Garbage Daze
Hardcore and punk fest Garbage Daze hits Calgary this weekend, as acts such as Bishops Green and Body of Light will headline the event alongside locals like Rhythm of Cruelty and Strangled. The inaugural festival promises three days of sweat, aggression and "no bullshit," so leave the cow turds at home.
06/5-7/2015 Calgary, AB – Multiple Venues
J Mascis
The grizzly and grey J Mascis is gearing up for a series of performances across Canada. Throughout the last quarter-century, this Godfather of indie rock has belonged to outfits such as Dinosaur Jr. and Deep Wound. However, this time he stands alone to deliver stripped-down acoustic tunes from his last few albums.
06/04/2015 Ottawa, ON - Ritual
06/05/2015 Montreal, QC – La Sala Rossa
Levitation Festival
The creators of Austin's internationally renowned Psych Fest have conjured a Vancouver festival that fosters the same spirit. Levitation Festival is a mind-opening experience for music lovers, which encompasses genres such as psychedelic pop, shoegaze, metal and all things experimental. Appearing artists include Black Mountain, Dead Moon, Witch, Tobacco, the Black Angels, Black Lips and Beach Fossils.
06/5-7/2015 Vancouver, BC – Malkin Bowl
Purity Ring
Edmonton's Purity Ring will be appearing for a short spell of synthesized noir-pop performances. The futuristic duo conjure and create fantastic visions for their sets by hand-stitching costumes and fashioning instruments that control lights and sounds. Be present to experience the alternate reality weaved by the music and methods of Megan James and Corin Roddick.
06/05/2015 Montreal, QC – Metropolis
06/06/2015 Toronto, ON – Fort York & Garrison Common
06/10/2015 Winnipeg, MB – Garrick Centre
Sufjan Stevens
Symphonic instrumentation, lo-fi folk and electronic noise blend together to create the sounds of Sufjan Stevens, but this time around, he's scaled it back a bit, performing his folksier tunes with just a little electronic emphasis. His sentimental performances have brought tears to the eyes of some, but also inspire moments of great joy — his Vancouver date this week is a must-see.
06/09/2015 Vancouver, BC – Orpheum Theatre
