Sub Pop Opens New Flagship Retail Location in Seattle

Sub Pop is once again branching out — this time with its very own flagship brick-and-mortar record store.

Today the famed label opened Sub Pop on 7th in its Seattle hometown. While Sub Pop opened a physical retail location at the SEA-TAC airport back in 2014, you now don't need a boarding pass to visit the label IRL.

The store is located at at 2130 7th Ave., in Seattle's South Lake Union neighbourhood.

As a press release puts it:

The store collects the cream of the crap from Sub Pop and Hardly Art, including t-shirts, hats, hoodies, various knick-knacks, trinkets, and objets d'art conspicuously emblazoned with the words "Sub Pop," as well as actual vinyl LP copies (aka "records") of every Hardly Art and Sub Pop release currently in print. Within the limits of Covid safety measures, Sub Pop on 7th is open now. And (unlike the practically world-famous Sub Pop Airport Store...) you don't risk a cavity search to get in!

In a statement, Sub Pop co-founder/president Jonathan Poneman added: "This is Sub Pop's flagship store. It's long on goodies and short on hours, so beat the rush."

Sub Pop on 7th is currently open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. 3 p.m., with COVID-19 protocols in place.
