The Strokes' Albert Hammond Jr. Unveils 'Momentary Masters' Solo LP, Tour Dates

BY Sarah MurphyPublished May 12, 2015

When he's not manning the six-string as one fifth of the Strokes, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. has been putting out a solid string of solo efforts — and he's back with another one.

The new album is named Momentary Masters, and it's due out on July 31 via Vagrant (marking a departure from fellow Stroke Julian Casablancas' Cult Records label).

Momentary Masters was produced by Gus Oberg and follows previous full-lengths Yours to Keep (2007) and ¿Cómo Te Llama? (2008).

Back in 2013, Hammond Jr. released an EP titled AHJ, which heard the musician playing every instrument on the record, except drums. For Momentary Masters, however, he's enlisted the help of his live line-up, featuring Hammarsing Kharhmar and Mikey Heart on guitars, Jordan Brooks on bass and Jeremy Gustin on drums.

He's shared the album's lead single and opener "Born Slippy," but it looks like we'll have to wait until later this summer to catch any glimpse of closing track "Side Boob."

Check out the full tracklisting below, as well as Hammond Jr.'s upcoming North American tour dates — during which he'll be making Canadian stops in Toronto (September 17) and Vancouver (October 26). Scroll past those to give "Born Slippy" a spin.
