Stone Roses Quash Reunion Rumours Once Again

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 7, 2011

Though they split in the mid-'90s, rumours of Madchester poppers the Stone Roses reuniting surface every now and again, igniting hope in their still-dedicated fanbase. Another such rumour popped up all over the internet today, but, sorry, the group are still broken up.

This newest rumour surfaced in the UK's the Sun newspaper, claiming that the bitter feud between frontman Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire had been settled recently after seeing each other at the funeral for bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield's mother. The tabloid went on to say that the band would soon be getting back together for a "megabucks reunion."

While it would be great to see the Roses one more time, Mounfield quickly quashed the story.

"I'm disgusted that my personal grief has been invaded and hijacked by these nonsensical stories," he told NME today (April 7). "Two old friends meeting up after 15 years to pay their respects to my mother does not constitute the reformation of the Stone Roses. Please fuck off and leave it alone. It isn't true and isn't happening."

Unfortunately for the Roses, it's only a matter of time before the next phony story comes through the pipeline.
