It's been five years since the Stone Roses signed a record deal with Universal/Columbia, but it looks as if we may finally get to hear some new tunes out of the Manchester outfit. Vocalist Ian Brown has confirmed they're indeed recording new material.
Approached outside of London's the Church Studios today (March 24), Brown confirmed to NME that the band are in the process of "recording music," and that's it's apparently going "like a dream." He wouldn't, however, detail exactly how much music the group are working on at the moment, though the results have apparently been "glorious" so far.
This isn't the first time the Stone Roses have teased the arrival of new music, with bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield having announced back in 2013 that they had been "working on a few bits" that, at the time, were rumoured to drop in 2015.
Despite reunion performances over the last few years, the Stone Roses have not issued an album since their 1994 sophomore release, Second Coming.
The Madchester quartet have upcoming dates booked across Japan, the UK and a lone North American stop in New York. You'll find the info over here.
