Australian musician Stella Donnelly has announced the follow-up to 2019's Beware of the Dogs — titled Flood, the album is arriving August 26 on Secretly Canadian, and today Donnelly has shared a video for lead single "Lungs."
Written during a period of frequent relocation, the record is described as a document of "risky experimentation, hard moments of introspection, and a lot of transition."
About the album, Donnelly said:
I forgot who I was as a musician, which was a humbling experience of just being; being my small self. I had so many opportunities to write things in strange places. I often had no choice about where I was. There's no denying that not being able to access your family with border closures, it zooms in on those parts of your life you care about.
"Lungs" is a shiny, rhythmic piece of pop exuberance, and the video — co-directed by Donnelly with Duncan Wright — features Donnelly dancing and mugging in some theatrical, colourful costuming.
Donnelly's also announced an extensive tour that includes stops in Vancouver and Toronto.
