Eric Barone — a.k.a ConcernedApe, the creator of the Stardew Valley video game — has teamed up with Metal Gear Solid video game score composer/saxophonist Norihiko Hibino of Gentle Love for a new album of Stardew theme covers aimed at helping you fall asleep. Prescription for Sleep: Stardew Valley will arrive on May 19 via Scarlet Moon Records.
The record features 11 hand-picked tracks from Barone's original farming game soundtrack, with Gentle Love's jazz reinterpretations. In addition to the reworks, the collaborators have also recorded a new track titled "Beauty in Seasons," every two bars of which represents a month of the year in Stardew.
"As a long-time fan of Gentle Love, it's been an honour and a pleasure to collaborate with them," Barone said of the record [via Vice]. "I believe this is a deeply relaxing and beautiful album."
Hibino added, "Every time I do the mixing on these albums I fall asleep. That is enough for me to prove they work for relaxation, or maybe I work too hard."
