Britt Daniel may still be repping his supergroup Divine Fits via some upcoming festival dates and an impending 7-inch, but don't forget that the prolific U.S. indie songwriter is also in the midst of prepping a new LP with his first love, Spoon. While we're apparently a ways off from the release, details on Spoon's apparently "slightly more R&B" set are slowly starting to pop up.
As Beats Per Minute points out, today (May 6) the band sent out a message to their mailing list that confirms they're "totally in the process of making a new Spoon record," and have been getting together at drummer/producer Jim Eno's Public Hi-Fi Recording Facility in Austin to work on new tracks.
Though the group admitted they're still in the writing stages of the LP, they pointed to a number of new songs to look forward to. These include "The Rent I Pay," "Naff Bag," "Millionaires," "Let Me Be Mine," "Modern Girls," "I Ain't the One," "Fresh From Your Pages" and "Give Me It."
Sound clips have yet to arrive, but Spoon say "the shit is sounding good."
As for the Fits' next single, Daniel had previously revealed that it would feature new tunes "Chained to Love" and "Ain't That the Way." A release date has yet been pegged, but it should pop up digitally before arriving on vinyl.
