Saying that Single Mothers have had an interesting past would be putting things lightly. The band reportedly ran through nine different members after beginning in 2008, and even had two different lineups co-existing at the same time. That was only one portion of the group's origin that bandmates Mike Peterson and Evan Redsky talked about in the latest instalment of Exclaim! TV's Chatroom, in which listeners ask their favourite artists questions through social media.
Set up in the Exclaim! office, Redsky and Peterson fielded queries about everything from the way the band writes their aggressive punk rock tunes, to getting signed after what was supposed to be their final performance. Outside of performing, we learned what the two bandmates were listening to these days, a potential fifth member of the group, and whether they would ever try peach moonshine again. One fan even wrote in from Victoria to recount a tale of getting a mic stand thrown at him by the band, asking if it was purely coincidence or whether the group wasn't receptive to his banana costume. (Remembering the raucous performance, the two assured him it was done without contempt.)
