Sharp Ends

"Northern Front"

Calgary's Sharp Ends feature a lot of members of other Calgary bands past and present, but they possess an otherworldly sound that defies era, let alone location. The band's debut seven-inch is being released later this summer via taste-making Chicago imprint HoZac, who have previously worked with bands like Nobunny and Dum Dum Girls, among many others.

"Northern Front," the record's A-side track, just seems to get everything right, from the shuffling drums to the timeless guitar riff and pummeling bass line to the singer's soulful croon. It's proof that Sharp Ends are paving their own path by combining garage rock swagger with no-wave urgency to set them apart from their countless peers.
