This spring, Lois Lilienstein of children's musical trio Sharon, Lois and Bram sadly died at 78 following a battle with cancer. Soon, she will be remembered with a Toronto tribute concert.
Lilienstein's former bandmates Sharon Hampson and Bram Morrison will be taking part in the the public memorial called "Celebrating Lois," which will be held on September 26 at the Jane Mallett Theatre in the St. Lawrence Centre for the Performing Arts. The event will include performances of some of Sharon, Lois and Bram's best-loved songs.
As the event's name indicates, the concert will be a celebration of Lilienstein's life rather than a time for mourning. Hampson and Morrison said in an announcement [via the Canadian Press], "We're having a party for Lois, and Lois loved a party! We are so pleased to have the opportunity to share these memories with the people whose lives were touched by Lois."
"Celebrating Lois" further promises to remember Lilienstein "through songs, stories, photos and video, featuring special guests, and of course laughter."
Proceeds from the event will go to benefit Mariposa in the Schools, an organization that uses the performing arts to educate Ontario youngsters about world cultures.
