Following up last year's fuzz-laced LP Growing Over, Vancouver garage rock troupe Sex Church are back with a new three-song EP called Somnambulist. Instant Pleasure Records and Psychic Handshake have teamed up to bring you the 12-inch release, which arrives October 20, but you can stream the whole thing now courtesy of Exclaim!
"Slipped" traverses the same intoxicating, distorted swell of Growing Over poppier fare, while the epic eight-minute "Wrong Side" gathers gloom and doom rhythms with a confusing mesh of punky power chords, chaotically warbly six-string work, and free jazz skronk. A press releases insists it should "appeal to the damaged and the deadbeat."
