Last month, Exclaim! chatted with Australian songwriter Sarah Mary Chadwick about her stunning new record Messages to God, and today Chadwick is sharing another gem from the album in bonus track "If I Have It in Me at All."
The new song is of a piece with Messages to God's bruising balladry, and it finds Chadwick at the piano, swept up in waves of atmosphere and flute — it's, perhaps unsurprisingly, incredibly gorgeous and heartbreaking.
Of the song, Chadwick said:
I write so many songs that there are always some casualties, some songs that I love that don't end up making it onto a record for reasons other than my affection for them. This is one of those songs. It's a love song written when I felt worried that I didn't have enough to give. And I guess that still remains to be seen.
The song comes attached to a live performance video that finds Chadwick playing solo at her keyboard. Check it out below.
