Burlington, ON's garage rock poster children Sandman Viper Command have big plans for 2011. The band recently announced they would play Edgefest at Downsview Park in Toronto on July 9, alongside such heavy hitters as the Weakerthans, Tokyo Police Club and Rise Against. But SVC will also be hitting the road to support their new seven-inch, Rough Love.
Their national tour kicks off February 1 in Montreal, with the Toronto and Montreal shows being in support of the Twin Tigers. Sandman Viper Command will then play a pile of more Canadian shows on their way to the band's final stop in Vancouver on April 10.
Rough Love, which is set for release on March 15, was produced by the accomplished Jon Drew (Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club, the Arkells). The single, according to a press release, explores "the depths of musicality" and is said to be a more mature than SVC's 2010 debut, Everybody See This, which sounds more like a mix of everything from Sloan to Joel Plaskett to Sonic Youth and the Beatles.
