Over the years, Canada Post has issued a few sets of music-themed stamps, with past featured artists including Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Anka, Anne Murray, Bruce Cockburn, Robbie Robertson, Bryan Adams and Stompin' Tom Connors. A new set will be arriving this summer, and while past stamps have all celebrated solo artists, these ones are oriented towards Canadian rock bands.
On July 19, Canada Post will release stamps featuring Rush, the Tragically Hip, the Guess Who and Quebecois outfit Beau Dommage. You can see the four stamps above, and a larger look at the Rush stamp can be found at the beloved prog band's website.
Canada Post's director of stamp services Jim Phillips said in a statement "This year's series features Canadian bands that have shaped the music industry in Canada. Each band has achieved national acclaim, along with international radio air-time and extensive tours."
This announcement coincides with Rush's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony takes place today (April 18) at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
