Robin Guthrie and Harold Budd

"Neil's Theme”

Director Gregg Araki's love for shoegazing and dream pop has always played a key role in balancing out the harsh themes in his films. His latest, Mysterious Skin, features the music of Slowdive and Sigur Rós, but he's also attracted one of the best to write the score. Cocteau Twins' guitarist/producer Robin Guthrie, along with composer and Eno collaborator Harold Budd, has crafted some beautifully delicate and haunting music to grace Scott Heim's powerful story of two boys affected by paedophilia. "Neil's Theme” escorts the tough tale of the lead character, with a gentle piece of heavenly ambient music to embody Neil's loss of innocence. The music's mood and texture is enough to knock you out, so it's best not to consume while operating heavy machinery. (www.arecordcommotion.com/releases_mysterious.htm)
