Richie Hawtin Robbed in Paris

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 30, 2010

Of all the disasters that can strike a touring musician, none is more common or more frustrating than stolen gear. The latest victim of equipment theft is England-born/Winsor, ON-raised DJ Richie Hawtin, who was robbed last Friday (June 25) while in Paris.

Hawtin is currently touring as Plastikman, and while staying in Hotel Costes last week, thieves broke into his room and made off with much of his live rig. Hawtin took to his Facebook this week and posted a plea for the gear to be returned. Read the message below for a detailed breakdown of exactly what was stolen.

To all my French fans, friends and supporters. I need your help!

On Friday night someone broke into my hotel room at Hotel Costes in Paris and stole my iPod and 2 x Plastikman Live iPads (serial #GB01723UZ38 and #GB0129CAZ3A) and my Plastikman Live show Apple Macbook Pro 17" laptop (serial #C02CK0GXDC7C).

I am asking everyone to keep their ears and eyes open for any information about these very important and personal items. I'm offering a 2500 € reward for any information that leads to the return of the equipment.

Please email me at x@m-nus.com. If found/returned I will NOT prosecute any one involved as I would just like to have my equipment returned.

Thank you, Rich.

As of press press time, there are 262 comments to the post, although most of them are along the lines of "that sucks," rather than providing any information. Perhaps when Hawtin returns to Canada, he can lick his wounds with fellow theft victims Library Voices, Buck 65 and Ohbijou. Together, they could probably rustle up a decent benefit compilation.

Thanks to XLR8R for the tip.
