Having made a name for itself selling musical instruments and audio gear of all kinds since 2013, music marketplace site Reverb is set to drop the needle on a new vinyl-centric spinoff site.
Titled Reverb LP, the beta version of the site already features plenty of records listed for sale. As The Vinyl Factory reports, the site is said to use similar software to that of online dating site Match.com, "ensuring that the right buyers and sellers find each other."
Not unlike fellow media marketplace Discogs, Reverb LP will take a small cut of every item sold, taking 6 percent in comparison to Discogs' 8 percent. Reverb LP also prohibits the sale of illegal copies and counterfeit pressings, according to the site's guidelines.
Upon its initial announcement in August, Reverb COO Dan Melnick told the Chicago Tribune that "We believe the current offerings are still in the older generation of marketplace technology and approach... We feel like there's a clear need for a more modern player."
