Random Recipe Return with 'Kill the Hook'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 21, 2013

Three years after electro-spiked Montreal pop troupe Random Recipe delivered their debut set Fold It! Mold It!, the group have announced a sophomore release is just around the corner. Titled Kill the Hook, it arrives October 8 through Bonsound.

According to a press release, the quartet's upcoming LP was "inspired by their own period of individual, collective and social questioning," and reflects the musical evolution the band experienced after having performed over 150 shows in support of Fold It! Mold It!. The new record is said to offer up a "vibrant blend of hip-hop and electro," and features plenty of bass, steel drum, synths, Omnichord thrown into the mix. As well, the band are joined on record by rapper Fat Tony, as well as Japanese outfit UHNELLYS.

While the album doesn't come out for another couple of months, the group have now premiered their "Big Girl" single. You can check out the video for the clip, where some kids at a gruelling summer fitness camp give their masochistic counsellor his comeuppance, at the bottom of the page.
