Earlier this year, Swedish dream pop outfit the Radio Dept. unveiled the single "Heaven's on Fire," which began with a clip of Thurston Moore encouraging listeners to "smash the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture." Now, the band are back with more political messages, this time via new single "New Improved Hypocrisy."
The lyrics include references to "democracy," "conspiracy" and the "rebirth of a nation." Still, the shoegaze arrangement is too dreamy to sound righteous or preachy. Not coincidentally, the next Swedish general election will take place this Sunday (September 19).
