R.E.M. Release Rarity "Fascinating" for Hurricane Dorian Relief

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 12, 2019

R.E.M. won't be making new music any time soon, but the band have unearthed an old rarity to contribute to the Hurricane Dorian relief effort.

The band recorded the song in 2004 at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, during a "creative retreat." As such, they're hoping to use the song to give back to the country that has since been ravaged by Dorian.

"I have been fortunate to spend many weeks working and playing in the Bahamas, making friends and lots of music there," band member Mike Mills said in a statement. "It breaks my heart to see the damage wrought by Hurricane Dorian. Please help us and Mercy Corps do what we can to alleviate the suffering caused by this catastrophe."

The track is available for purchase on Bandcamp, with proceeds going to the Mercy Corps' ongoing relief effort in Bahamas.
