Ian Blurton has already made a name for himself in the Canadian music scene thanks to his production duties for artists like the Weakerthans, Cursed and Amy Millan, as well as creating his own work with Change of Heart, Blurtonia and C'mon. Now the guitar rock icon is adding another position to his resume, this time with his new recording project Public Animal. Stream the band's "Vaults Doors" / "One Way Ticket" 7-inch ahead of its November release through Yeah Right! Records.

Recorded and mixed by Public Animal at Toronto's ProGold Studios and mastered by João Carvalho (the Sheepdogs, Sloan), Blurton and co. deliver aggressive garage rock with a heavily psychedelic flair on the band's two-song debut. "Vault Doors" finds the band unleashing the kind of fuzzed-out fury that would make Billy Gibbons shake his booty, while the record's flip side, "One Way Ticket," has Blurton and keyboardist/vocalist Caitlin Dacey trading beefy chords and monosyllabic chants as drummer Ryan Gassi keeps things steady with a four-on-the-floor groove.

The band plan to issue another set of singles in February and March, followed by an official full-length sometime in the new year. Public Animal also have some Canadian live dates set up, and you can view those here.

But until then, stream Public Animal's debut 7-inch below.
