Toronto's Picastro have been going strong since the '90s, and the band have a new album in the works. The collection is called You, and you can get a taste of what's in store via the new track "State Man."
The song begins with an unassuming intro of rough-around-the-edges acoustic guitar and soft vocals. The rest of the band eventually joins in with this dark folk waltz, which introduces some unsettlingly angular instrumental touches as it goes along.
Due out this winter, You includes guest appearances from Tony Dekker (Great Lake Swimmers), Alex Lukashevsky (Deep Dark United) and others, while Sandro Perri mixed and produced a couple tracks.
Picastro are touring Europe this fall. See the schedule here. Some handmade copies of You will be available at these dates. The band will also be playing a hometown show in Toronto for Feast in the East on October 10.
