The visual artist/photographer who shot the cover art for Phoebe Bridgers' 2020 album Punisher, Olof Grind, has shared a new single under his musical moniker, Luminous Kid. Today, the artist shares "Mountain Crystals," with spoken word accompaniment from Bridgers.
The track is the lead single from the Swedish artist's debut album at the end of the dream, which is due for release on April 23. Written in Los Angeles after a party at Conor Oberst's house, Luminous Kid has enlisted Bridgers to round out the song — her favourite from the record — with her own contribution.
Along with a self-directed music video and Punisher-reminiscent visuals, Luminous Kid's latest is a testament to his multi-disciplinary approach.
"Olof Grind makes incredibly beautiful music as Luminous Kid and I just want to tell everyone in America about it," Bridgers said of her collaborator.
"I think the more role models and queer experiences that exist in popular culture, the better," Luminous Kid said of the track. "If a song or a work of art can make a sad and trapped young queer person feel better about themselves, then it is a step in the right direction."
