Pharrell Williams' solo hit "Happy" is a joyous pop anthem, but Theo3's new remix offers a very different take on the track.
This remix by the Toronto MC/producer also known as Theology 3 preserves Pharrell's sunny lead vocals, replacing the beat with frantic start-stop percussion and a woozily messy patchwork of samples. It's a lot less uplifting than the original, but since this is retitled "Altered Happiness," that seems to be the whole point.
A description accompanying the track reads, "A lot of us don't find happiness everyday, at least not the Walt Disney type. This is the happiness we find."
