Having released a pair of Lee "Scratch" Perry collaborative LPs over the last year, UK electronic music vets the Orb will next set their sights on a career-exploring overview called History of the Future – The Island Years. The four-disc box set arrives via Island Records on October 7, which is right around the time the Orb will play Canada on their newly announced 25th anniversary tour.
The first CD houses a number of singles from the Alex Paterson-driven outfit, running from their debut single "A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld" from 1989 up to their 2001 Cydonia LP's "Ghost Dancing." A second disc contains remixes from the like of Andrew Weatherall, Mark Pritchard and more, while the third CD features live cuts recorded in Copenhagen and at Woodstock '94.
Finally, a DVD full of promo videos, TV performances and a live clip of "Little Fluffy Clouds" closes out the box. You can see all the info down below.
Additionally, the Orb's current lineup will hit the global concert circuit this fall for their 25th anniversary tour. Down below, you can see the North American schedule, which includes Canadian stops in Vancouver (September 25), Montreal (October 24) and Toronto (October 25). In addition, there is a festival stop at Victoria's Rifflandia on September 13.
There is also a pile of worldwide dates, and you can see all those here.
