Oiseaux-Tempête

'Unworks & Rarites' (album stream)

BY Alan RantaPublished May 4, 2016

Their fourth release in four years, Unworks & Rarites sees Oiseaux-Tempête plumbing the depths of their vast archives to polish jewels of jazzy noise and well-paced post-rock. To show you all of what's up for grabs, the entire collection is streaming here on Exclaim!

Following releases like the Re-Works remix album and last year's Ütopiya? full-length, this is the Paris-based collective's first collection of B-sides. Its selections were drawn from recordings laid down between 2012 and 2015, with multi-instrumentalists Frédéric D. Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul joined by drummer Ben McConnell, bass clarinetist Gareth Davis, Christine Ott on Ondes Martenot, and G.W. Sok (formerly of the Ex) reading a Nazim Hikmet poem, among other contributors.

The compilation will be released on May 13. But before then, fans can pre-order it through Sub Rosa, and check out the full stream below.
