The Novaks Unveil Free EP, Announce Canadian Tour Dates

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 6, 2010

The Novaks may sound suspiciously similar to Tom Petty, but don't let that be a reason to dismiss these Newfoundland blues rockers; after all, their sophomore album Things Fall Apart recently earned them the title of Rock Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards.

Now, to follow up on that bit of success, the trio are gearing up to release new EP, Big World, which will be available as a free download as of April 20. You can download the title track here, an electrified riff rocker that takes the band's sound in a slightly darker direction than usual (check out those ghostly, reverb-soaked harmonies).

According to a press release, "The three song collection sees the band explore a remarkable amount of terrain for such a short play time. 'Sooner or Later' is a piano led piece akin to Abbey Road-era Beatles while 'It's Just a Dream' rounds out the EP with a sobering and beautiful lament filled with chimes and ornate guitars."

The Novaks will be supporting the release with a tour of Canada's eastern half, starting off in their hometown of St. John's and heading west as far a Peterborough, ON. Scroll past the EP tracklist below to see the full itinerary.
