Vancouver's Non La recently released his debut album, Not in Love, via Kingfisher Bluez, and now the self-described "queerpop" songwriter (who also plays in Thee AHs, TV Ugly and more) is premiering a video for the record's "Wait 4 You."
The song is a romantic indie pop jam, with a vocals-and-guitar intro that suddenly bursts into a peppy full-band arrangement, eventually climaxing with a Weezer-channeling guitar solo. In a statement to Exclaim!, songwriter DJ On explained, "This song was originally a ballad that I wrote for a lover. After he dumped me I decided to turn it into a rock song."
The accompanying video mirrors the structure of the song, with a black-and-white beginning that explodes into glittery full colour as On performs the tune with his band in front of a sparkly backdrop. It was directed by Emma Arkell.
