Adrian Kemp, the CEO of UK-based record label Ninja Tune, will be taking a "step back" from his role at the company amid an internal investigation into allegations levelled against him, a statement sent to staff confirmed [via Resident Advisor].
The nature of said allegations has not been revealed, but a letter from his solicitors noted that Kemp "vehemently denies" them, as per Mixmag. He will be temporarily departing from his CEO position so as not to "prejudice the investigation in any way." The investigation is being carried out by an "independent third-party HR company."
Kemp became CEO at Ninja Tune — which boasts acts like Young Fathers, Black Country, New Road and Bonobo as part of its current roster — in 2017, and has been working there for over 20 years. In his absence, the label's Head of Marketing, Samantha Sissons, will step up alongside Tess Kendall, Head of Marketing Operations.
"The outcome of the investigation will be made available upon completion subject to any legal barriers," the statement to staff read. "Adrian will continue to work in support of Sam and Tess but with a lower profile."
