News Round Up

Another week has come and gone, but with it many important things in music have transpired. Wu-Tang have a new track, Radiohead are working towards finding a new label for their new album - which shockingly is out on Wednesday, White Cowbell Oklahoma have a new tour diary on exclaim.ca, Ian MacKaye is officially not dead and Animal Collective have a concertgoer’s mother thinking they are the spawns of Satan.

Wu-Tang’s 8 Diagrams will be released in November, but until then they have given their fans a sneak peek with "The Heart Gently Weeps.” The track was originally rumoured to have used a sample from the untouchable Beatles, but the Wu have said that it’s all organic baby. You be the judge.

Radiohead have suddenly returned to the limelight with the anticipation of a new album – their first since 2003’s Hail to the Thief. They plan to sign an official deal with an existing label for the release of In Rainbows, but in the meantime, they’ve introduced a pay-what-you-want download service for fans to own the record immediately. That will be active as of Wednesday, October 10, but also available will be a special "discbox” that contains a whole wack more.

A raunchy visual rock’n’roll spectacle best describes White Cowbell Oklahoma. That’s why they teamed up with Exclaim! to do a tour diary, as they travel our wonderful country and keep everyone informed of all the insanity that transpires from town to town and drink to drink. Check out their tour diary and wild-ass antics at exclaim.ca/whitecowbell.

You’d think it would be pretty easy to tell if someone was dead. Apparently not, as there was a muck of confusion surrounding Ian MacKaye’s well-being. The founder of Dischord Records is very much alive.

If you’re the kind of person who believes in hypnosis, propaganda or that Satan is trying to brainwash people through rock music you have something in common with a dishevelled mother in Philadelphia. Her claim, after her son attended an Animal Collective show, is that the experience was a frightening one that left her child helpless and vulnerable. The event promoter has responded saying that none of her accusations are true.
