Jack White has been taking a little time to reflect on his illustrious career so far, delivering Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 just last week. One track that made the compilation's final cut is the White Stripes' previously unreleased number "City Lights," and that song has just been treated to a brand new video.
The clip arrives courtesy of the band's friend and former collaborator, esteemed filmmaker Michel Gondry — and it apparently came as a "genius surprise gift."
"Third Man Records is pleased to share the genius surprise gift they received from their friend Michel Gondry," a statement reads. "On his own and without anyone's knowledge, the legendary filmmaker shot a video for 'City Lights,' which he sent them the other night."
It marks Gondry's fifth collaboration with the White Stripes; he directed some of their most iconic videos, including "Fell In Love with a Girl" and "The Hardest Button to Button."
The latest visual offering showcases a series of finger-drawn images against foggy glass shower panels. Watch it below.
Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 is out now through Third Man Records.
