METZ Release 'Live at the Opera House' Album
Watch the live version of "Pulse" from last year's album 'Atlas Vending'
Published Aug 04, 2021It was a real bummer that METZ couldn't treat last year's Atlas Vending to their typical, high-octane tour schedule, but they did what they could by launching the album with a livestream performance from the Opera House in Toronto. Those who missed out can now get in on the action, as the band have just released the full performance as a new live album.
The aptly titled Live at the Opera House, produced by longtime collaborator Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck, is on streaming services now, and will be available on vinyl on November 5 via Royal Mountain and Sub Pop.
The tracklist runs through Atlas Vending front to back followed by a pair of signature tunes from their 2012 self-titled debut. Alongside the album comes an accompanying live film, directed by frequent METZ videographer Scott Cudmore.
For a taste of the concert film, the band have shared the video for album opener "Pulse," featuring handheld camera work and rapid-fire cuts to parallel the intense noise rock tune. It can't beat the real thing, but it should be enough to tide listeners over until METZ head out on tour with Preoccupations later this year.
