Australian three-piece Methyl Ethel describe their songs as "poltergeist infomercials between your sleepisodes," and that intriguing ethos has been spun into the band's debut album Oh Inhuman Spectacle.
Spawned from the bedroom recordings of Jake Webb, the tracks have now been fleshed out into full on psych-pop with the help of bandmates Chris Wright and Thom Stewart, and you can hear the results on the new single "Idée Fixe."
The intoxicating indie gloom-pop tune has now been paired with visuals courtesy of director Olivier Groulx, which open in black-and-white, depicting a young actress in the paparazzi's line of fire. Bursts of colour later liven things up, though the clip never wavers from focusing on the woman's relationship with the camera.
Oh Inhuman Spectacle is available digitally now, with CD and vinyl versions expected to arrive in May through 4AD. Watch the video for "Idée Fixe" below.
