Calgary's Close to Modern continues to impress with an onslaught of digital releases that highlight the talents of their city and beyond. Their output is always divided into seasons, and they've just launched season 4 with a brand new EP from Mercedes Benz.
The vehicular moniker was adopted by Jon Reynolds, a man who keeps plenty busy in the local rock bands Gawker and Crack Cloud. Here, he's created a lush, enveloping pop release that utilizes synths, drum machines, guitars and soothing vocals.
While it's a little hard to pin down genre-wise, the EP is a surprising and fully formed debut. Suffice to say, we can't wait to hear more from Mercedes Benz — or Close to Modern, for that matter.
