Mega Bog Announces New Album 'End of Everything,' Shares "The Clown"

Experimental pop artist Mega Bog — aka Erin Elizabeth Birgy — has announced a new album called End of Everything, arriving May 19 on Mexican Summer. It's the follow-up to 2021's Life, and Another, and it's being previewed with lead single "The Clown."

"'The Clown' is about the terrible, sensual, and chaotic release of merging one's own multitudes, showing love to the darkness and insecurities, having curiosity about what is beyond presumed perceptions — surrendering to the uncontrollables, while nourishing the small statues of what we do have control over within ourselves," Birgy explained in a statement about the track.

In the self-directed video, Birgy strikes poses and throws shapes in a shadowy space lit by flashing light. She's all alone until she isn't, and the video takes a darker turn. The song itself is a throbbing piece of theatrical '80s dance-pop, which finds Birgy stretching her voice to Dagmar Krause-levels of dramatics.

End of Everything was recorded and co-produced with Big Thief drummer James Krivchenia and includes contributions from Hand Habits' Meg Duffy, Tops' Jackson Macintosh, Will Segerstrom, Aaron Otheim and Westerman.
